Happy Sunday to you. How was your week? Mine was a busy one as I am working on writing two articles for the B.C. wine magazine, Vitis. One piece is on how the culture of wine has gone virtual. The other is about a method of Rosé production called ‘saignée’ – so stay tuned and I will let you know when the Spring issue has been published.
I had fun filming our latest episode of Crush On This. I led the Australian episode and I think it went well. Allison is using new editing software and incorporating more photos and maps. We’d love for you to let us know what you think in the comments on YouTube.
Some fun facts about Australia:
Australia is a vast, beautiful country and the fourth largest in the world. It has an interesting past. Indigenous Australians lived on the continent for over 65,000 years before European explorers hit the shores. The colonization of Australia by British military is where the story of the grape vine starts.
Now, Australia boasts 65 wine growing regions and every state has vineyard land. In our ‘Australian Red Wine Region’ episode, the Crush On This ladies and I explore three famous wine regions in Australia and each select a different grape variety that speaks to the region.
We travel to Heathcote for Shiraz, McLaren Vale for Cabernet Sauvignon and finally, to the esteemed Barossa Valley for a GSM (Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre) blend.
Do you have a favourite Australian red wine? I invite you to watch our episode, subscribe to our channel and leave us a comment.
This Episode of Crush On This was very entertaining, lots of informative facts about Australia’s three discussed wine regions, lots of information about the three selected wines, all as stated in a professional, yet easy to understand and fun way.
Bravo ladies, your episodes, like good wine, keep getting better! 🍷🙋
I had the good fortune to study viticulture & enology in Australia. I do have many personal favorites…..the first “cellar door” that I visited educated me….”honey, get it right. If you are in Australia, it’s Sheeraz, not shirazzzzz.” McLarenvale is one of my most favorite regions, and while I love Penfold’s, I really lean to producers like Drew Noon, d’Arenberg. Yes, LOVE the GMS, grenache (a favorite varietal), shiraz, mourvedre.
Thank you for this fantastic comment! I cannot wait to travel to Australia and go exploring.
Sorry…typo. GSM!!!!
