Brothers Ezra and Gabe Cipes, from Summerhill Pyramid Winery, invited me to their incredible vineyard location in Kelowna for lunch, a visit and a walk through their Demeter Certified vineyards.
We talked about biodiversity, permaculture and Grüner Veltliner – among other fresh topics like live music, living authentically and getting back to your roots.
Today, I would like to introduce you to Gabe Cipes, the driving force behind Summerhill’s Biodynamics and Permaculture practices. Biodynamics is a method of organic farming that observes the lunar calendar and focuses on soil fertility. Permaculture is a set of design principles in gardening centred on a holistic, living in harmony with nature practice.
I invite you to watch Gabe talking about Summerhill Pyramid Winery’s soil fertility program:
Gabe inspired me to learn more about biodiversity and permaculture – his deep respect for the Earth is beautiful.
Stay tuned for my next video posting with Ezra Cipes where he will be speaking about Grüner Veltliner.
Happy Thursday.
Christine
