Hello, my friends…
Let me take a moment to say how impressed I am with the resilience of our communities, our province and our country…we are definitely living in uncertain times. This is a first – it feels scary, unpredictable and unnerving. I know we will come out of this, but it is going to take time, patience and action.
During this unprecedented time in our lives, many people in the hospitality industry are now out of work. The BC Hospitality Foundation (BCHF) is a registered charity that raises funds to support those in the hospitality industry facing a financial crisis due to a health condition. In addition, the BCHF offers a scholarship program to foster the development of the next generation of workers and industry leaders.
As you know, I love wine – writing about it, sharing it, enjoying it. Wine is what we enjoy and this does not need to stop, especially now. There are ways for you, as a wine lover, to not only continue to support our British Columbia wine industry but also support our B.C. hospitality workers…
April is ‘British Columbia Wine Month’ – a chance to celebrate British Columbia’s well-crafted wines, discover new regions, new producers and find new favourites. Some of our B.C. wineries are offering free shipping on orders and others are also donating partial proceeds to the B.C. Hospitality Foundation.
Here are a few wineries to support:
Township 7 Vineyards and Winery – This winery will be donating $10 from every order of 4 bottles or more to the BCHF as well as including free shipping.
Rust Wine Company – Purchase a magnum of Gamay from Rust Wine Company and partial proceeds will go to the BCHF. (If you haven’t tried this wine yet, do not wait!)
Summerhill Pyramid Winery – For the month of April, Summerhill is donating $1 of every bottle purchased to the BCHF. Free delivery across Canada as well as they are offering a discounted ‘Hunker Down’ wine care package.
Corcelettes Estate Winery – For every bottle purchased, they are donating $1 to the BCHF as well as free shipping for orders over 12 bottles.
Tightrope Winery – Free delivery on any purchase of 6 bottles or more.
Noble Ridge Vineyards – Free delivery on any purchase of 6 bottles or more.
Hester Creek Estate Winery – Free delivery on any purchase of 6 bottles or more.
Stag’s Hollow Winery – Free shipping on 6 bottles or more for British Columbia and Alberta.
Roche Wines – Use the promo code ‘support local’ on orders of 6 or more bottles for free shipping.
Da Silva Vineyards and Winery – Offering 10% off online orders as well as free shipping on orders of 6 or more bottles.
Upper Bench Winery and Creamery – Not only are the lovely people at Upper Bench shipping their wine for free (with no minimum purchase) they are also shipping their delicious cheese, too!
Okanagan Crush Pad – Offering a $20 ‘stay safe’ shipping credit on orders of 12 bottles or more.
We are all in this together. I am here for you. I am doing what I can to support our incredible wine industry in B.C. that I am so incredibly grateful for…
Sending love. Stay healthy.
