Hello and happy Wednesday to you!
Summer is in full swing in North Vancouver which means it is BBQ season.
Last night, we had friends over for an early evening meal. I asked my hubby to pick up an already chilled Chardonnay from Edgemont Liquor Shoppe. He came home with a delightful find…
Cassini Cellars Chardonnay 2015 B.C. VQA is an unoaked expression. I was delighted by its easy drinking approachability. If you tend to shy away from Chardonnay because of its’ oaky flavour profile, here is a great B.C. wine to try.
Nice and juicy with notes of orchard tree fruits – apple and pear – the wine also boasts hints of lemon curd, vanilla and mango. The grapes come from vines that are 20 plus years old and offer a structured wine that goes down very well.
The juice is fermented in stainless steel tanks but does see new French oak barrels for a few weeks before returning to the steel tanks. I appreciate this attention to crafting a more complex wine.
We paired the wine with chicken breasts on the BBQ and it was a hit. At $20, this Chardonnay is a great find.
If you are touring through the Okanagan, be sure to visit Cassini Cellars and try some of their exceptional wines. I am a fan.
XO
