Hello and happy wine Wednesday to you!  I am loving this stunning sunshine Vancouver has been finally blessed with!

And, really, there are just certain things one needs to enjoy all that summer offers: sunscreen, a shady spot, music and a sumptuous glass of white wine – and do I ever have one for you!

If you have trouble pronouncing “Gewürztraminer” you are not alone!  Often shortened to ‘Gew”, this aromatic grape hails from the cool climate of Alsace, France.  It is one of the noble grapes of Germany and certain British Columbian winemakers really flourish with this variety…Tinhorn Creek Gewürztraminer Golden Mile Bench, Okanagan Valley, B.C. VQA 2015 exemplifies this perfectly.

Bursting with flavours of honeydew melon, mango, lychee, rosewater and candied ginger, this wine is multi-layered and nuanced.  It is an off-dry expression with 7 g/l of residual sugar yet has a nice amount of acidity and a dusting of minerality that makes for a delicious and complex wine.

Amazingly priced at $16.99, pair Tinhorn Creek’s ‘Gew’ with some spicy Thai prawns on the BBQ or a fresh crab salad on a sunny day – heaven.  This is a fruity, flirty, juicy wine that you are really going to want to try this summer – trust me!

Have a wonderful week!
