Hello wine lovers and happy wine Wednesday!
It has been kind of a hectic week for me with computer issues but it is all sorted now…hurray!
If you are anything like me, on a cold, rainy and grey day – a nice glass of comforting red wine is definitely a nice treat. And, if you enjoy your red wine but don’t want to break the bank, finding a good value wine is just about as awesome as winning the lottery.
So, my lovelies, I can only apologize for not learning about this wine sooner – but here is a great red wine to enjoy.
KWV Roodeberg from the Paarl Valley in South Africa, is a red blend that consists of 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Shiraz, 12% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Tannat, 3% Tempranillo and 3% ‘other’. Quite the combo, yes, but it hits all the right notes for me!
This Bordeaux blend was a delightful surprise. It is exceptionally smooth on the palate with flavours of black cherry, ripe plum, whipped mocha, a hint of cedar as a top note and a dusting of liquorice and vanilla on the finish. With 12 months of French oak aging, this luscious red rings in at 14% abv. and is a nice dark ruby red colour in the glass. Seriously folks, I am kicking myself for not knowing about this wine sooner.
And, for all you wine lovers in B.C. – the B.C.L.D.B has this wine on sale right now for, wait for it, $11.29 a bottle! What? I know. The regular price is $12.29 so even if you miss the sale – you will be able to head straight to the South Africa section of the store and grab a bottle of very good, exceptionally priced wine. This baby can even be aged for 3 – 5 years.
As you can tell, I am quite pleased with this ‘Hell Yes’ find! Who doesn’t want a few ‘go-to’ bottles to keep on hand for easy sipping that are great and affordable? I sure do.
That is it for me this week. Please weigh in if you have tried this wine before…
Enjoy!
