Hi friends and happy Saturday!
It is good to see cherry blossoms in bloom and daffodils opening up in my neighbourhood – Spring is here!
As it is Easter weekend, I thought a Crush On This video about Viognier would be a perfect pairing. We will be enjoying ham and Viognier is an often overlooked wine to pair with it. It ticks all the boxes for acidity and hints of fruity sweetness to offset the salty flavours of you ham.
One of the most pleasing Viognier’s I have enjoyed over the past few years is from Tightrope Winery on the Naramata Bench, B.C. Lyndsay O’Rourke is one of my favourite winemakers in B.C. and her Viognier is exquisite.
I invite you to watch along with our video and run to the liquor store to grab a bottle.
I wish you a happy Easter weekend with your loved ones.

Thank you Christine for the reminder of the beauty of Viognier with salty baked ham! So, we went for it. Our Easter dinner became baked local artisanal ham (Nor-Cal) and scalloped potatoes with a Viognier of Columbia Valley Washington that I’d been hanging on to, Mary Ryan Winery Viognier 2012 (!). It was a delicious counter-balance pairing. Cheers!
