I have arrived in the capital city of California!
We had a fantastic ride down here with Alaska Airlines who offer complimentary wine and beer! Do they even do this in Canada anymore? I heart Alaska Airlines and their amazing customer service…well done!
We (Donita Dyer) and I hit three spots after checked into our hotel.
The first was Joe’s Crab Shack that was situated in the river and I had a great Margarita and we shared some shrimp. Then over to Grange, one of the original two farm to table restaurants in California. I loved the vibe and the food. We shared Kenebec fries with blue cheese and bacon and I think my heart skipped a beat a little. Paired with a Chardonnay – I was a happy lady.
After some sage advice from our friend Chris Taranto from Paso Robles, we headed to Mulvaney’s B&L. This is the other ‘farm to table’ restaurant that started this fantastic excitement to eat locally. I was very impressed with my Cinsault and my Chardonnay. However, my highlight was the Heirloom tomatoes and hand pulled mozzarella cheese starter…stunning. The ambience here was excellent and we were day in the stunning courtyard complete with fairy lights and cool upside down umbrella installations in the trees.
I am having another half day in Sacramento today then off to my #WBC16 pre conference excursion to Amador County. Very much looking forward to learning all this region and Lodi have to teach me.
I miss my little family but I will be home soon!
