Whew – what an amazing week, and it is only Wednesday!
Monday, at Westwood Plateau Golf and Country Club, the BC Hospitality Foundation held its annual Golf Tournament to raise funds for the foundation and have an absolute ball while doing it!
As the Silent Auction Manager, I ask wonderful people to donate hotel stays, a magnum of wine, restaurant gift certificates, art, etc. to be auctioned off at the event. Last night was very successful indeed – whoo hoo!
One of the donors was Hester Creek Estate Winery who generously offered a magnum of Cabernet Franc as well as 6 assorted reserve wines. In the mix was one of my new enjoyable finds – Old Vines Trebbiano.
I had the pleasure of enjoying this wine last week – first time ever – and I was delighted. Hester Creek Old Vines Block 16 Trebbiano, 2015 Golden Mile Bench, BC VQA is made from grape vines that were planted in 1968 and is the only Trebbiano produced in British Columbia.
On the nose, this wine has delicious notes of grapefruit rind, apricot, green apple and peach with a brilliant vein of minerality. On the palate, wow – amazing acidity with juicy citrus fruit flavours – oranges, limes, lemon but is nicely rounded and full with a hint of mango. This is an excellent ‘In The Mood’ wine for those of you Pinot Gris lovers who want to try something different. For me, it is a definite ‘Hell Yes’ wine and is stunning when paired with white fish or chicken drizzled with fresh lemon.
Hester Creek Old Vines Block 16 Trebbiano 2015 is a fantastic wine to savour this summer.
Enjoy!

Love reading your blog. It is so refreshing and lets me conjure images that bring such pleasure. Fortunately my beautiful and talented wife brings home these wines and they are perfect. Love, your hubby.
I really enjoyed Hester Creek while in Vernon however I didn’t try Trebbiano so I will put it on the list. Love saying Trebbiano takes me back to my stay in Pacciano, Italy. Xoxoxo
