Hello wine lovers!
Happy Canada Day to all of my fellow Canadians here and abroad! And, happy #wineWednesday to you as well!
We have been blessed with some amazingly beautiful weather here on the west coast of Canada and all I can say is that Vancouverites seem even more relaxed and laid back! Well done. What better way to kick back and enjoy Canada Day than with a beautiful bottle of B.C. VQA rosé from the Okanagan Valley?
On deck today is Quails’ Gate Rosé 2014. This is yet another stunner by one of my favourite B.C. winemakers’ Nikki Callaway. It is a blend of Gamay Noir, Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris which makes for one refreshing and delightful patio wine and one worthy of Canada Day celebrations!
In the glass, the rosé is a nice salmon pink colour. On the nose, there are aromas of freshly picked strawberries, cherries, citrus and a whiff of pepper. On the palate, this is one refreshing wine! With some excellent acidity, the palate comes alive with flavours of strawberries, watermelon, rhubarb and more thirst quenching citrus notes. There is some length and a nice balance. Quails’ Gate Okanagan Estate Winery and Nikki Callaway have done it again!
This mouth-watering rosé retails for $15.69 at the B.C. Liquor Stores – what an amazing deal! The perfect wine to celebrate my favourite country in the world!
Happy Canada Day to you all! I hope you enjoy the sunshine and are surrounded with family and friends.
Enjoy!
XO
