Hi wine lovers and happy wine Wednesday!  I have had an eventful week that I want to share with you…

First of all, I received wonderful, wonderful news that my sister and the love of her life are engaged!  (insert happy dance here)  I am so incredibly happy for Jessica and Stephen – they are a very awesome couple who light up when they are together.  They are blissfully enjoying themselves in Mexico as I write this.  Yay! Congratulations! Let the wedding planning begin!

Then, on Saturday, I went out with my wine ‘sistah’ Donita Dyer of The Food & Wine Concierge blog.  This classy lady has a fantastic grip of the ‘vibe’ of Vancouver and places to go and check out.  We hit Coast Restaurant and sat up at the bar sipping Chablis and Champagne and had a fantastic time taking in the buzz of the room and the amazing staff.  We then moved the ‘party of two’ to Forage restaurant on Robson Street.  We shared an order of the elk and an order of the tuna – both were excellent.  For our wine, we selected a bottle of Orofino‘s ‘Beleza’ 2011 which is a Bordeaux-style blend from B.C.’s Similkameen Valley.  This unfiltered wine is stunning.  If you haven’t tried a bottle yet, may I suggest you add it to your ‘must’ list.  It retails for $34 and, in my opinion, is a fantastic value.  I haven’t visited this winery yet but after this experience, it is on my list indeed.

We headed back to Coast because the bar scene was vibrant and the bartender and Jerome the GM were both engaging and fun.  Finally, I needed to hit a dance floor and we landed ourselves smack dab in the middle of Pumpjack Pub‘s fun, Saturday night gay dance party. Amazing moves, great beats and loads of fun! Whew…when I arrived home at 3 AM I felt a certain sense of accomplishment…mama still has her groove!

Finally, yesterday was the love of my lifes’ birthday.  Mackenzie presented her Daddy with cupcakes she made for him and decorated meticulously…so freaking cute.  David’s sister Kathy met us at Mackenzie’s tennis lesson and we all came home and shared a nice dinner together and two bottles of the Romain Duvernay’s Costières De Nîmes 2013 GSM blend I reviewed earlier this month. (They now have it in stock at the Edgemont Village Fine Wine, Spirits and Ales)

Truly, an exceptional week filled with fantastic news, great friendship, and lovely family memories.

Enjoy!
