Hello wine lovers! I hope you have had a wonderful week so far!
It has been a great and busy week for me. I head up to Penticton, B.C. tomorrow morning for the 6th Annual Wine Bloggers Conference #WBC13. It is the first time it is being held in Canada and I am looking forward to meeting fellow bloggers, sharing wine stories and suggestions and generally surrounding myself with all things wine.
An interesting tidbit on my last weeks review of Anna de Codorniu Cava – I was tweeted by Cheryl C. saying that my Cava recommendation was sold out at the Park Royal Signature B.C.L.S. Cheryl said that the employee she spoke with said “Someone must have written about this because we have gone through it all in a week.” Hmmm – coincidence? Not sure. Cheryl was looking to secure a case for her step-daughters’ wedding shower which I managed to do through a very helpful BCLS employee, Charlie Chan, out of the Kingsgate Mall branch (Store 123). Charlie then went on to explain that 520 cases are on order but just cannot say when they will arrive in the stores and on the shelves. Good to know that Anna de Codorniu is en route!
Also, my dear friends Natalie and Dennis are having their wedding reception in July and have decided to go with a few of the wines I have reviewed and blogged about…Yay! These wines will be perfect for a summer wedding reception! Thank you, Natalie, for following my blog. (PS – I have a bottle of Anna de Codorniu for you to try). I am thrilled to have received some great feedback on my suggestions. Makes me one happy wine blogger!
Finally, a colleague is hosting a fundraiser for her daughter Danielle’s “Road to Rio 2016” as she hopes to earn a spot on the Canadian team and compete at the Paralympic Games. WOW. I have donated to their silent auction an evening with Girls Go Grape that will include a consultation, 3 bottles of wine, and an evening covering the history of the wine or region chosen as well as an introduction to the systematic approach to tasting wine. It made my heart happy to be able to offer this service as Danielle Kisser is an amazing young woman with talent and ambition.
As for this weekend and the Wine Bloggers conference – I will be doing some live blogging as I taste – kind of like a speed dating round for tasting wine and writing about it. We will have one session on whites and one session on reds. I look forward to finding a few new B.C. gems!
Enjoy and thank you VERY much for reading and for your feedback.
XO
